Black Gold || DIY Worm Composting

  • Plant Chicago 4459 South Marshfield Avenue Chicago, IL, 60609 United States (map)

Hosted by Cristal Alba

Are you interested in building your own worm compost bin and learning how to maintain and eventually harvest your own worm castings?

This 2 hour workshop will walk participants through the process of creating their own transportable vermicomposting bins plus all the yummy info you need to cohabitate with your new wormy friends. Final bins will fit under most sink cabinets and can support the waste of 1-4 humans. All participants will also receive an in-depth informational zine with resources, info, and tips for maintenance.

All materials and tools will be provided, including worms! Each participant will leave the workshop with a bin+worms. If you are interested in participating with someone else (one bin between two people) please email instructor (info below) directly.

No one will be turned away for a lack of funds but limited spots available. Please email the facilitator , Cristal Alba, directly at cristalgalba@gmail.com if you need additional accommodations or have any questions.

Please Note...

This workshop will take place in person at Plant Chicago's location (4459 S Marshfield Ave Chicago, IL 60609). We are limiting this workshop to 10 participants in order to ensure that proper social distancing and cleaning procedures can be followed. We are also planning to hold this workshop outdoors if the weather cooperates. Attendees will be notified of final plans for the workshop at least 2 days in advance. Workshops attendees, instructor, and all Plant Chicago staff are required to wear a mask throughout the duration of the class.

You are welcome to contact info@plantchicago.org or 773-847-5523 with any questions or concerns.
